I'm not sure if this qualifies as a bug or not, but it did bug me.

When attempting to download the last dictionary update I ran into a network error of some sort ("socket" something or other, I was on a bad wifi connection). After reconnecting it does not prompt me to download the update again, and there is no option to do so.

Thanks for the heads-up. I suppose when that happens, there should be a message saying how to manually trigger the update.

You can do this by: Menu -> About and then you should see the "update available" message.

This is now handled better in the latest version (1.8.0).
