I was also wondering about a different solution that would work as well for me. Make it clear the current search result if I switch between programs? If that is even possible. Or a option that we could enable/disable from the settings.

But anyway, I've been really satisfied customer for about two years now. 2011 summer, this saved me from so many problems during my first trip to China hehe. Even ended up connecting me with my current fiancee, soon to be my wife. Because when we first met, we could barely communicate, her English was not that good and my Chinese was even worse. But slowly and with the huge help of this program, we managed to do it. :D
Keep up the good work! :!:

I'd like to be able to search through my "All Starred List". I think it would be great if you can implement this on your next update, maybe add a searchbox or something.

Thanks!

The next update is tackling the details screen, not the search screen, so that cannot make it into this update. I will consider it for a future update though.

Please have the option to import lists created from Hanping.
I spend a month in China and put a lot of effort in putting a few hundred words on my phone in my starred list hopoing to review them...
I exported the list to my email thankfully but after reflashing my phone, and even using titanium backup to restore app+date, the starred list has nothing...

Is there ANY way to import my previous list? I saved it as a csv file (a .txt file sent to my email)

Hi - I'm very sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing regarding starred list restoration.

Starred Lists export is designed to allow technically-savvy users to have access to the starred words. Also, potentially other apps could write importers to bring the data into their own apps. This feature was actually removed at the start of this year because tech-savvy users can just as easily (and more effectively) use the SQLite database that stores the starred list data. So now, instead, we have a "Share" feature which is more designed for users who want to print out vocab or simple share it with friends (for example by email).

Here is some general information about backing up starred lists: /2012/07/hanping-chinese-dictionary-pro-3-0-5-released Generally, we recommend using something like Dropbox or Google Drive to backup the data.

However, I understand this is too late now, for you.

Unfortunately, currently there is no way to import exported data back into Hanping.

We hope to make backup/restoration much easier in a future release.

Please send us an email to discuss this in more detail: [email protected]

The addition of ABC Dictionary Abbreviations is really helpful. Thanks for adding it.

Quick question, is it possible to also add the explanation paragraph below it? I mean like the one on this page /abc/abbrevs

So if I clicked on b.f. for example, it will bring me to Niánzhuó Císù=粘着词素

And then below it, I think it will be nice if we can see the explanation:
"Morphemes which do not function as free words in a sentence and cannot be handled using one of the other bound category labels, such as prefix, suffix, measure word, or particle. A given character may represent a free word in one or more of its meanings but a bound morpheme in other meanings. E.g., qiǎng 抢 is a bound form meaning ‘rush’ in qiǎngshōu 抢收 ‘rush a harvest’ but a free form as a verb meaning ‘pillage’. Compare the entry label char., used for characters that are not morphemes."

Thank you for your great work.

Thank you for your feedback.

It's certainly possible. It almost looks like there should be a separate mini-dictionary of the abbreviations. That model would actually fit in with Hanping much better than trying to somehow fit this special case into the Details screen. I'll have a think about how it can be done...

Really like the app,

as this is a chinese learning app.. it would be really useful to be able to export any word lists you make to microsoft word etc so one can print it out.. or even be able to email yourself the list of words and corresponding meanings.

just an idea

Thanks for the suggestion. This is already possible for starred lists. Simply long-press on the starred list (e.g. "All Starred" or one of the Tag lists) and click Share.
