Ah, thanks very much. I was just checking the Android UI guidelines:

http://developer.android.com/guide/prac ... tml#design

and I cannot see anything about background transparency. In fact the sample images don't seem to have any transparency at all...

Hi, I have fallen head over heels with this ap. As a long term student, it is just great. I have retired but still play with the Chinese, and it is great. If there is anywhere I can put a testimonial, I will.

A feature request: I have been translating Tang poetry from simplified Hanzi. When I write in a line of poetry, it gives me the translation, and then multi choice words where that is applicable. Then when I play the line/sentence in audio, the first of each multi choice word is displayed. That's great, when the first choice is the correct one, but when it isn't, it makes the audio that much less useful, becuase the pronunciation of the whole sentence will be wrong.

If it were possible to delete some of the multi choice words at that point, that would be great, before going to the audio.

Regards,

Thanks very much for your feature request and kind words, Ashley!

Actually, that's already on my ToDo list. Eventually, you'll be able to choose which of the alternatives you want to play.

Hi,
I have been using the pro version for more than a year and am very satisfied. One thing that annoys me though, after writing with the character recognition and pressed the "I am ready arrow", and matching items are displayed, I often want to write a second character but now there is no "pen" button anymore. My method is to see if I could get a good match with only one character and, if not, add the second character (due to laziness and lack of writing skills).

Hope this could be fixed, thanks.

Hi Tobias - yes, this will be coming soon. We plan to redesign the whole search bar in the near future so will include that feature when we are working on that.

In the meantime, have you tried long-pressing on one of the suggested characters in the handwriting screen?

Hi again, an additional idea -could you please put together an overview of the grammar abbreviations used for looked up items. Some are easy like V.O but, for instance, what is N.U.? I guess this could be good to put in the help section and/or a clickable option where displayed (linked to an explanation).

Hi Tobias,

Regarding handwritten entry, I'd recommend using 'TouchPal'. This keyboard app available from Google play is a great keyboard and handwriting tool, and by downloading the additional plugins you can easily switch between english, handwriting, bopomofo and quite a few other languages too.

Hi Tobias - in the near future, the abbreviations will be clickable so the use can easily discover the meaning. In the meantime, I have just created this page describing all the various abbreviations.

Hi Embermitre,
Sounds great that you plan to address these "short comings". I am often using the search alternatives, thanks. I basically like trying my character writing skills using the character recognition, but in a lot of cases search* is good enough.

Hi Daymo, thanks for your recommendation. I am using GoKeyboard with a few language plugins that does the job unless it comes to chinese handwriting. All other software expects native writing skills and wants a character to be finished within a time limit. The built-in one is very patient with people like me:)
