Hanping Pro 2.* Bug Report Thread

I have just upgraded to the newest version of Android. I am using a Sony Ericson Xperia X10. Now when I access HanPing Chinese Pro, Release 2.5.0b7 all I get is a blank screen. I can access Settings, Help, and About. I have deleted the application and reloaded it with the same results. I have loaded the free version which seems to work without problems.

Any idea what my problem may be?

Upgraded to 2.5.0b10 and really like the History and the progressive search seems to work well (but a little slowly). I have a big problem with the 1x1 widget, which now almost always shows "please wait" when I go to the home page where the widget is located. If I wait long enough (10 seconds?) it will refresh with the next list entry. It also seems that the widget causes a lot of increased battery usage. I removed the widget and my battery problem disappeared. The battery usage under "Settings/About Phone/Battery Use" shows it is coming from "display", but the display is mostly off. This is the only change I made to improve the battery.

Thanks very much for bringing this to my attention.

I've just released an update which fixes the "Please wait" widget bug. I have not been able to reproduce the battery issue, but it is possible that this update fixes that also.

Please try out the latest update (2.5.0b12) and let me know if it solves those issues.

Hi,

When I paste text containing a ？ character into Hanping to be translated, it comes up "No matches". If I delete the question mark, the words are then translated. Other character such as commas and full stops do not cause this problem. I would much prefer it to ignore the question mark as it does with other grammar.

Otherwise, this is a great app!

Hi Philip, It seems to be working for me. Please can you update to the latest version (2.5.2) and try again? The problem was fixed at some point, though I'm not sure when.

I am using Hanping Chinese Pro 2.6.1 with the 2.1.1 dictionary. I am on a ZTE Blade on Froyo (Swedish Spring custom rom).

My bug is related to Swiftkey, which I recently switched to. I am using Swiftkey X Beta, v2.0.2.36. When I press on a word of any kind in a list, the keyboard goes into some kind of regress where it keeps blinking (attempting to predict what comes next somehow?) that I can't get out of except to exit the app.

Ah, thanks for the heads-up. Swiftkey is causing quite a few problems with 3rd party apps. I've already fixed one bug regarding SwiftKey and the handwriting recognizer.

I'll have a look into this one too.

1. The hsk2 word list the app downloaded says the definitions of "da lan qiu" (play basketball) and "ti zu qiu" (play soccer) are both "<not in dictionary>".

2. If I type something to look up, then backspace to clear out the field, the first new letter I type is not shown on the screen, so I have to type it again. (I'm using the standard Android keyboard.)

Hanping v2.6.4 with CC-CEDICT 2.1.1 on LG Thrive (Android 2.2.2).
