Hanping Chinese Dictionary Pro/Lite 3.* Bug Report Thread

Please post here any issues you come across regarding version 3.0.*, 3.1.*, 3.2.*, 3.3.* or 3.4.*.

Please check you are running the latest version to check whether the bug has already been fixed.

when viewing a result and clicking the starred icon (top right hand corner) to choose a list then click back without choosing a list hanping then states that it's been assigned to a list, but if i check again it hasn't. Also, if i remove an item from one of my starred tags and then later decide to want to add it to another tag list it seems to remember that the item in question was assigned to other tag lists previously.

Hmm, that's strange, I'm not seeing that behaviour here.

Here are the steps I tried:

(for when a default tag has been specified):

1. Click on a search result that I have never starred before
2. Long-press on the star icon
3. Observe that the default tag has been pre-selected
4. Press back and back again to go to the search screen
5. Observe that word now appears in both All Starred and default list

(for when a default tag has not been specified):

1. Click on a search result that I have never starred before
2. Long-press on the star icon
3. Observe that none of the tags have been pre-selected
4. Press back and back again to go to the search screen
5. Observe that word now appears in All Starred list

I get the same behaviour whether I long-press on starred icon or use menu option.

I'm also not seeing the other problem. If I unstar a word, then exit hanping, then restart hanping, then star the same word, there are no tags preselected (except the default tag when specified).

actually , what you've described is what happens , so this is normal?
if i select a search result then click the starred icon it should automatically add it to the starred db without adding it to an actual list?

It's probably easier to think of them as tags not lists. Whenever you star anything it goes in the "All Starred" list. This way, users can be completely oblivious to (or simply not care about) tags and so use the All Starred list as normal "Favorites".

the other little thing relates to entering searches:
if i use swype either via samsung's own keyboard or touchpal's it adds a space to the end of the word (obviously it's trying to be helpful), but this affects the number of results found. i know this isn't a bug as such, more an inconvenience. don't know what other people's opinions are but it would be nice if hanping ignored the space on the end of a search word or sentence.

Hmm - but then the problem is, the space is intended to indicate to Hanping that you meant that to be the end of the word. So if you type "love ", you want results like "fall in love" and not "lovely". Maybe "lovely" could come after. I'll have a think about it. Thanks for the tip!

I just found a bug. The app crashes when pressing the audio button on the page for 除...以外
I found 除...以外 by looking up "besides"
the audio for 除 and 以外 work fine

Looking closer and I realize the crash is caused when it tries to play audio for the "..." entry, any pages that use this and you press the audio button will crash
