Hanping Chinese Dictionary Pro/Lite 3.* Bug Report Thread

I'm pretty sure Dropbox does sync automatically on Android. About a year ago, some customers requested to make the directory structure on the SD card more dropbox-friendly so that things like starred lists and history/prefs could be synced without including things like dictionary and audio data. So we did just that.

Have a look at the other folders on your main storage to see if anything else has been lost. Also check the timestamp for when the /Android/data/com.embermitre.dictroid folder was created.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any SD card/storage tools although I see there is this one and this one (but have never tried either).

This led me to the fix! When I looked for this, I saw there's actually an older folder called /Android/data/com.embermitre.dictroid.1357473759662. I found the starred.db file inside that folder and copied it to the current folder. My starred words are back!

Yes I saw these, but neither will read-verify the entire SD card. They just write a small test file and check that. Anyway, it seems like my tablet is fine. No other apps have been misbehaving. I'll keep an eye on it though, and keep my starred.db backed up. Thanks for your excellent support!

In Hanping, we do some things to try to backup user data/prefs, so it looks like that one worked. I actually haven't seen that particular auto-backup strategy work on that folder. Usually it works on the file level so you might get something like starred.db.1357473759662

In version 3.2.11 when I try to add a Tag for Starred items, it doesn't allow capital letters and often seems to add letters multiple times. Seen on all keyboards I have tried.

Hmm, I've never seen that before (letters multiple times).

I'm pretty sure nothing has changed since 3.2.10 - did it occur then too?

There was a change a couple of months ago (I think) that allowed chinese characters to be used in tags. I think there is a restriction to only be able to use lowercase characters and digits (as well as chinese characters).

I don't know when it happened. I just recently upgraded the ROM on my phone and it wiped the internal SD card where the database was stored, so I lost all my starred items. It is in starting over again that I see this behavior.

Hmm - I didn't know a ROM upgrade would wipe the internal SD card.

The lowercase thing is intentional, but i really have no idea about the characters appearing multiple times. Have you experienced that in other apps?

I just purchased the ABC Dictionary (Chinese-English). I am experiencing a bug.
The sample sentences which should appear under the searched word appear as blank space. I am only able to view the examples after clicking on the blank space (after which a new window opens with the sentence in full screen ).
I am not sure if this is related but I had to download the 18MB file from your website to my SD card to get the ABC dict to install.

Thanks very much for the bug report. This bug slipped in the latest update unfortunately. It will be fixed in the next update which will be released shortly.

Hi, I'd like to ask about a problem that I encountered recently.

I use Hanping Pro with ABC & CC dictionary. There're some words that exist only in CC dictionary, but doesn't exist in ABC dictionary (for example：ren4 yang3 认养).
If I starred this word, then tried to look up for it in my "All Starred" list, this word's definition doesn't show up.

Is it supposed to work like this?
