Is there any news on adding stroke order display? I think around november you wrote that it would be a possibility but that the underlying dictionary didn't contain any data. It would make the app perfect!

Sorry, no plans at the moment, but it's certainly a possibility for the future.

More Chinese Definition when a Word is search.
So far only getting English Definition...
useless, when need also to know what chinese definition meant. plus if this work or phrase is relating to a idiom.

so far this app only passes 4 out of 10 rating for just basic Chinese to English Translation all from CE-DICT.
Hanping is ONLY just a GUI laid over CE-DICT opensource.

One thing I would like is the possibility to order the entries in a tag list.

A specific order is often interesting to study (numbers, days of the week, months, etc.) but it happens frequently that the words are not tagged in the list in that specific order by the user (for whatever reason).

Interesting ordering methods:

1) use my finger (drag and drop) to reorder an entry where I want it in the list
2) sort by pinyin

Thanks

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your suggestion. It would indeed be a very useful feature.

Currently the words are ordered in the reverse order you added them. You can move a word to the top of the list by unstarring and then restarring it.

We will try to get around to building a more rich ordering feature in the near future.

I'd like for you to create another app where a person could create their own flashcards from your dictionary. I see a lot of flash card apps, but creating your own seems to be a pain, especially when looking for the ability to create cards with Chinese characters. Everyone has their own things that they may need to learn. For some, it could be menu items, for others, travel directions, for others maybe they have a Chinese class with a certain vocabulary. With the ability to create your own flash cards from a dictionary, and with the 'leitner system' or whatever it's called, it could help you learn the ones you seem to miss. I'm looking at getting a droid in the next month and I plan on having your Chinese dictionary be the first app I get. Thanks for the great stuff you've already made. Hope you read this. :)

Thanks very much for your suggestion.

The current plan is to make Hanping inter-operate with 3rd party flashcard apps. This will allow people to use their preferred flashcard system rather than being forced to use one we design.

I would be interested to hear of which existing flashcard apps Hanping users prefer.

After thinking about it, I thought of another possibility. Have a feature where after looking up a Chinese word, have a box to the side that would be a 'create a flashcard' option. Thanks for the quick reply btw.

Interesting - I'll keep that in mind when tackling this issue. There are many ways to do it - just need to stick with one and implement it!

I think ankidroid is the best.
I would really appreciate the capacity to create decks (from the hangping lists/starred) for this flash cards app.

Thanks

Dan
