I actually came to request that the app be able to show both pinyin and zhuyin at the same time. In the scenario described in the above posts, it would be helpful for me if it would export all phonetic types.
I think seeing pīnyīn and zhuyin together will really help me to learn zhuyin. Maybe this is only of concern for those in Taiwan interested in learning zhuyin like me.
Other requests:
PC version that can sync with Android version. (I usually use pin1yin1.com but it requires internet and is not always available)
Add custom entries (Would like to add local slang , place names, industry jargon, etc.)
Happy customer, thanks!

The new Night Mode feature is now available in both Free and Pro editions of Hanping.geft wrote:Please offer the option to enable the white on black theme available in older versions. That would be a battery-saver for AMOLED screens.
Re: Feature Requests
Would really like a medical terms dictionary added; would gladly pay for this feature.
Re: Feature Requests
Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm sure many of us like using starred items and lists and some have even mentioned synchronizing with a PC.
If we're all learning this subject and there are many similar subjects we all study then is it possible to have an online 'starred' items or lists which we could subscribe to (like an RSS feed) such as 'animals', 'vehicles', 'medical', 'computer' etc. We could all help to build these lists much like Wikipedia does with its data (but more accurate ) and sync with them online. These could be separate to our own personal customised lists.
Loving the app as usual, keep up the good work

Re: Feature Requests
Thanks daymo.
Yes, I've been thinking about this for some time. Having a sync-able system would probably require too much development time, but I was thinking of just having a topic on this forum where users could post their Starred Lists and others could then import them into their Word Lists (by downloading the word list db file and copying it to the appropriate place on their sd card). It's just that I had visions of that topic remaining largely inactive for long periods of time! However, if there is enough interest in this then I can add in the code to allow exporting of a Starred list to a generic read-only Word List file (like idioms1.wls). And also maybe the saving of all the entries in a Word List to a new Starred list so you can add/remove entries.
Also, I want to make the Starred tagging system more obvious because I think many users don't realise that functionality exists. For those who don't, you need to long-press on the star icon. From the dialog popup, you can then create new tags and long-press on a tag to set it as the default tag (i.e. the tag which is automatically applied when an entry is starred).

Re: Feature Requests
Hi,
I just bought Pro app and have two feature requests:
1. Could you add customized colours for the tone colours? I already use tone colouring on other apps, but my colours are different from the ones you currently offer. (Actually my colour system is similar to unimelb, but for the 3rd tone I use brown instead of purple....however it would be better if I can use the same colours everywhere)
2. Can you add some kind of searching by radical or component. This would be useful for situations where I come across a new character in real life, but I don't know how it's pronounced. If I could search on one or more radicals/components, it would help me quickly find the character. (eg if I saw the word 動 and didn't know what it meant, I could look up one of the components that I do know, such as 力 or 重 and search through to find the matching character.)
3. Related to No 2, it would be useful if you could show a breakdown of the components which make up a character (so if I pressed on 動 in the dictionary, it would break it down into 重 and 力). This would be a useful facility for helping to learn new characters, especially more complex ones.
I think there are 'public' databases containing the information required for 2 and 3, because there is a free java app called DimSum Tools which had these kind of character breakdowns built in (though it's not been updated for ages).
Thanks!
Ben

Re: Feature Requests
Thanks for your comments.
1. Customized colours is not a quick feature to implement, unfortunately. It would also make the Settings more complex so at the moment this is low priority...
2 & 3. Searching by radical would require additional data that is not provided in the CC-CEDICT dictionary. I'm looking into how this can be introduced without over-complicating the UI. Will keep you posted.

Re: Feature Requests
Hello,
first off, great programm!!
A feature I would love to see in the pro-version
is the ability to display pinyin and bopomofo.
Thanks a lot.

Hi,
Satisfied user here. Love love love the ability to create customized lists, as this allows me to keep track of all the vocab that I look up.
Just have a question. Obviously the version of CC-CEdict HanPing uses is saved locally. How often is this updated with the actul CC-CEdict? Can we update manually.
Please keep up the good work and make HanPing awesome!!!

Re: Feature Requests
Periodically (usually every 3-6 months) I update Hanping's CC-CEDICT data file (you will receive an Android Notification when one is available). There is currently no way to do this manually because there is a fair amount of post-processing of the raw CC-CEDICT file to make it work well in Hanping.
