With #2, would you not use backspace if you typed the wrong pinyin (or the cross to clear the search field)?
Generally sounds good though. When hit back key, check if the search field is empty, if so, then EXIT; if not, clear search field and set focus to search field.
EDIT: Second thoughts, when focus is set to the search field then non-hardware keyboard devices will automatically pop up the soft keyboard. This would mean that to exit the app, a user might have to press back three times, which could get very annoying...

Re: Feature Requests
It would be great if the individual characters on the 'results' screen were clickable (a click would be another search).
I can do this now with copy/paste/edit result - but it would make things a lot more convenient

Re: Feature Requests
I'm wondering whether the search would be for the character or the character/pinyin combination...?
Re: Feature Requests
I prefer the Astro-style exit. Sometimes there is a lag in input an I'll have hit back 1 too many times.
Also, I can't find any option to change the widget's displayed vocabulary word (a feature which I only just discovered and think is a great replacement for the standard icon as long as the word changes regularly).

Re: Feature Requests
At the moment its implemented so that if you exit (back out of) the app and then go back into the app (within a short period of time) the search box will use the previous search text. This way, if you accidentally back out of the app then you just need to restart the app to continue from where you left off.
We're looking into what to do about widget configuration (e.g. frequency of update and which words to show) though have some other stuff to do before that can be tackled. I agree though, being able to manually move onto the next widget word would be really useful.

Re: Feature Requests
That makes sense, unless of course someone launches the program primarily from the widget (as a way to conserve real estate). All in all, however, now that I have learned that there is copy and paste, I don't find premature exiting that much of a hassle.
Re: Feature Requests
It would be really great to be able to do "wildcard" searches that include words found within the definitions.
Re: Feature Requests
Are you using the custom search feature (where you can search within the definition)?
Re: Feature Requests
Would be nice to have white text on black background option -- easier to read on some displays. I know old versions were like that but recently this changed and I haven't found a setting that lets me switch it back...
Re: Feature Requests
The colour scheme was changed a while ago to better fit with the Android look-and-feel. The vast majority of stock Android apps have a white background.
Of course, its impossible to satisfy everyone with one colour scheme and so adding a setting would be a way of solving that. I'll look into adding such a setting in a future release, but will probably delay it until a proper Settings Screen is implemented.
