Switching between Chinese & English results?

Post by soconnor »

Is it possible to uninstall the ABC dictionary? I like some of the fuzzy search capability of CE better. I tried uninstalling the main app and reinstalling, but ABC was still there. I don't really need obscure word support. Thanks

Which ABC dictionary do you mean? I assume you mean when searching English?

The ABC English-Chinese Dictionary will match against many more words than the built-in CC-CEDICT dictionary. For example, try searching for the word "vintage". CC-CEDICT comes up with no matches, but with ABC English-Chinese Dictionary installed, you get entries for "vintage", "vintages" and "vintage car".

I will be pushing an update soon (in the next couple of weeks) which will make a big improvement on how the dictionaries work together.

In the meantime, there is currently no easy way to disable a dictionary, but send an email to us at [email protected] and we will see what we can do.

Yes, the English->Chinese dictionary. I will wait for the update. It's not urgent. Thanks

The update (3.0) that includes the feature to switch between English-headword and Chinese-headword results, has now been released.
