Further updates, v0.2.
I've now updated HPSTE to allow you to view and edit existing starred tags. You can delete entries, copy to other starred tags or new starred tags.
I've updated the manual accordingly. Links to both are here.

I'm curious to know if anyone has used this yet and whether or not it's of any use. If so I'll carry on uploading.
Starred List Builder
Re: Starred List Builder
I'm personally very interested in all this but I'm right in the middle of some pretty intensive Hanping stuff at the moment, so have not been able to try it out for myself. I will do soon though!
Re: Starred List Builder
minor update.....
http://www.limbicsys.co.uk/apps/HPSTE/HPSTE.exe
I've added a somewhat experimental option for searching for words. On the right-hand side of the latest version is a 'Subjects...' option. This searches the dictionary for parenthetic words. The idea behind this is to give you a range of words/phrases from which you can expand your searches, or if nothing else give you more ideas what to search the dictionary on.
I've also added an export option which will export the results table (searches or selected starred tags) to a CSV file.
At present the import option is not available; I'm not sure what file formats anyone would like to use (apart from the obvious CSV file). If anyone is interested in this option then let me know what type of files you would want to import from.
The documentation hasn't yet been updated to reflect these updates as they may change.
I don't know how much further I can/want to really go with this app as it is just a means to manage hanping lists, but if anyone has any suggestions let me know.

Re: Starred List Builder
another minor update...
Both import and export options are now fully functional. HPSTE will import and export in the standard file format used by Hanping (TSV) as well as CSV (Comma Separate Variable). I've updated the documentation (PDF) accordingly. Let me know if you have any problems with these functions.
NOTE: CSV files which contain lines of text which also happen to include commas should surround them with quotation marks. HPSTE relies on this in order to successfully import the CSV file. If you want to use CSV files make sure that the english section is using quotation marks. I'll probably look a little further into this to cope with variations on CSV formatting with or without quotation marks.

If the english section already includes quotation marks, don't forget to escape them!
Re: Starred List Builder
Version 0.27
ha ha yes, good point. However, it's all academic now, I've tweaked the import and now the quotes are irrelevant, it doesn't matter whether they are there or not.

Re: Starred List Builder
Ah, yes, that will work unless your Hanzi or Pinyin have commas!
Re: Starred List Builder
hurrumph! I didn't think there were any, but further inspection I found a couple. I then discovered that for some reason the commas used with the chinese characters are problematic when importing, so this is more hassle than it's worth.
Version 0.28 - I've now removed the CSV import option but the export option is still available (slightly improved).

Re: Starred List Builder
I'm not sure, but I think I normally force FULL_WIDTH (i.e. hanzi-style) commas in the hant and hans fields. Commas would need to be escaped in the Pinyin though. This is why I do TSVs!
