I have purchased the Pro version, and it was working fine until i had to change my SIM card (it was 7 years old and was incompatible with highspeed data) and then my microSD formatted itself. I have since gotten a new microSD card, and managed to salvage the dictionary from the old memory card before it broke, but now it seems like the app doesn't believe I have the Pro version. when it tries to update itself, it does not work.
anything I can do?

The first thing to check is that you are signed into the same Google Account: Run the Market app, press the Menu button, select Accounts and then check that the selected account is indeed the one you used to purchase that app.
Another thing you can try is Clear Data on the Hanping Pro app.
