Is there a manual on how to use the Hanping Pro?

Hi, I'm new to smartphones and even newer to apps! Is there any kind of users' manual for the Hanping Pro anywhere? I can't seem to find anywhere that tells me how to use the dictionary well, or any explanation of what all the little icony things, arrows and ticks and stuff, on the top mean. I have looked through the topics but it seems like everyone is an advanced user, with experience of other dictionaries. For example, how do I open the clipboard? What can I do with the dictionary? I worked out how to look words up and how to write the character on my touchscreen, but I am sure there are other sophisticated things I can do. What I most want to do is to make flashcard sets, which can be shuffled, corresponding to the lessons in my Chinese textbook. Is this possible?

Not a manual as such, but please read this.

You can build word lists by starring words (press the star icon) and tagging them (long-press on star icon).

You can step through those word lists one at a time (using the up/down arrow buttons on the "Browse" screen). If you assign a word list to a homescreen widget then the words in that list will be shown in a random order in that widget.

It seems like a wonderful dictionary. I have been using a Canon Wordtank electronic dictionary up till now, and have to say a huge thank you for what has been the most useful thing in the Hanping for me so far. The Canon had the feature where you can write the character and it will recognise it, but it timed out so quickly that I never managed to finish writing the character before it disappeared (as I had to keep looking and checking the strokes). The Hanping waits for me!! So grateful.

For widgets, long-press on the homesceen and you should be able to add a widget there.

The handwriting recognizer also allows you to "undo" strokes (top left icon on that writing board).

Thanks. What I meant was I don't even know what widget means, and will have to check that on google. I said I was new to all this!!!

I am now trying to create a wordlist and am trying to follow your tip

When you "star" a word (in the Browse screen), you may optionally assign any number of "Tags". For example, when you star the word "张" (zhāng|Chinese surname and measure word for flat objects) you might assign the Tags "surnames" and "measurewords". For each Tag, there is a corresponding Starred List. So, the "Tag: surnames" Starred List will contain all words that have been tagged with "surnames".

but when I star a word, I cannot find how to assign it a Tag. I managed to make a tag list, but how do I get the word on to it? It's so hot here in Tokyo -- maybe it's interfering with my brain!!

Sorry to continue being a pain, but I just CANNOT seem to tag a word. This is what is happening: I put in bofu in pinyin to get 'father's older brother' in hanzi. I long-press the star on the browse page as you said and a screen comes up with a list of tags (I have made 3 different tags now in my experimentation), and at the bottom of the page it says create a tag. Well, I don't need to create a new tag list, I want to assign the tag to 'bofu', but there is nowhere on that page which says anything about assigning a tag. I tried highlighting the tag so that the box on the right has a green tick, but nothing happened. Just the Create dialog box comes up. What am I doing wrong?

Ah, sorry about the confusion!

I meant the star icon on the second screen (the Browse Screen). The star you are seeing is the Star tab on the Search Screen. To star a word you first need to click on the word in the search results to take you to the Browse Screen.

I am talking about the star on the second screen (browse screen). That is the one I have been long-pressing.
