Hanping Pro availability outside of Market?

For you information all android phones in china do not come with the android market place. and it can not be installed on the phone. another useful fact is that all android phones from the USA brought to china can not purchase apps on the android market place, only download free apps. so do download apps in china you must go through a third party, eg. andappstore.com, slideme.org, coolxiu.com, getjar.com, etc...

with that fact in mind, i am in china dn would like to download your chinese english dictionary, as i can only speak english and no chinese. i have downloaded the free version from andappstore.com. after using your free app i would like to download the paid version but i am unable to access android market and your paid app is not avalible on any third party store that i know of, please advise me how i can pay and use your english chinese dictionary pro version 1.5.0.

also since i have been using this app my of my english speaking friends here in china would also like to download this app, but they do not have access. please advise me on what to do to get your paid app.

I'm looking into ways of making the app available to people without the Market app or without access to paid apps on the Market.

For users with the Market app but not seeing paid apps, try any one of the following:

1. Insert a US/UK/DE (or from any of these countries) sim card. The sim card does not need to be active and you can just connect using Wi-Fi. Once this purchase has been made, you no longer need to use that sim card - i.e. you can revert to whatever sim card you normally use and Hanping Pro will still function normally.

or,

2. Root your device and install MarketEnabler

or,

3. Wait until Hanping Pro is available outside of the Market

For users without the Market app, I'm looking into alternative options.

I live in HK. I have Android market but no paid apps.
There is no timetable from Google when paid apps will be available in Hong Kong.
I would like to buy Hanping Pro.
Very grateful if you can find a way to do this.

(btw, Mobisystems does it by offering a trial version that is available in the free Android Market, you can then go to the site, pay, get a code, then enter that code into the app.)

@mfc - thanks very much - I'm looking carefully into different ways the Pro version can be made available.

Also its useful to note that inserting a US/UK/DE sim card for purchase, only needs to be done for the purchase and not for future use of the app. Most people probably realise this but some might not. I've also updated my previous post to reflect this.

Fortunately I had an Australian sim which I use when I go to Australia.
Just tried this, it worked, and now I have your fine dictionary !

One small problem with this method: the phone tells me there are Updates Available, but when I press update it says "Not Found". So to get updates I have to change sim cards again. Changing sim cards is not very convenient, as I then have to re-login to each of my google accounts each time the sim card changes. So I look forward to this being solved.

Yes, that's not very good. I didn't know the market app would say "Update Available" in that situation - that's clearly a bug (because the update is not available to you).

I'm quietly hopeful Google will come up with an acceptable solution for all of this (i.e. paid apps in (almost) all countries) in the coming months, so this would no longer be an issue.

Thanks - am now following you on Twitter.
In fact I prefer to get the update notifications just in case it is something important, eg a security notification. Then I would go to the trouble of swpping sim cards, re-entering logon passwords etc.

A question: the latest tweet said "Hanping CE Pro 2.0 released!" but I already have "Hanping Ch-En Pro 2.0b1". I am guessing I am using a beta, and the latest upgrade would be to the final version?

Yeah, its just that I didn't announce the new version until now. There are actually quite a few nice new features from 2.0b1 to 2.0, so its worth swapping the sim card!
